This drawing reflects a deeply personal moment during my research tenure in the laboratory. While trying to understand how breast cancer develops and developing a mouse model to understand it in hope of finding better treatments, I found myself wrestling with the emotional conflict knowing that the research could help many families facing cancer but also struggling with the reality of using animals for research. The image reflects that inner conflict- a mix of curiosity, responsibility, and discomfort- that became inseparable. It made me realize that science is deeply human, shaped by fear, hope sacrifice, and a profound respect for life in the hope of easing suffering for others.
