Cancer took my nose. Not my spirit.
We met Sue at the end of a long day. She waited, all day.
Since cancer took her nose, she rarely takes photographs. For years she kept an old high school picture as her profile photo. It was easier than explaining. Easier than being seen.
She told us about the grocery store. The little boy said, "Mom, look at that ugly woman." Her grandchildren ask, “Grandma, who forgot there nose today?” and she laughs. She feels good now. She’s looking forward.
She will return to college to finish the degree she left in the 70’s. She didn’t let it beat her. Her future awaits.
As she left she told us, "This is my story. My Future awaits me!" Sincerely, Robert X. Fogarty
