It's really pretty simple. It's basically the collective noun for my 3 children. They've got nicknames – Peaches, Pumpkin, and Bananas - together they're called delicious monsters. 'Delicious monsters' is actually the name of a big leafy plant that takes up lots of space – 'delicious' because I love them and everything that they do, and 'monsters' because they are painful at times but I love them anyway. And the other thing that appeals to my sense of humor which the kids understand is that a Delicious Monster plant's leaves are poisonous. So it's just a collective noun for my 3 children – Delicious monsters because they are delicious, they are monsters, and I think that suits them that they're poisonous as well and it's really as simple as that. C: Tell me more about who they are... Hannah is my eldest – she is 16. My middle child is Erin, she is 13. My son is 10, his name is Ross. C: Do you have an example of how they embody the Delicious Monsters idea? A moment or story that embodies that idea? I encourage them to be individuals and be expressive and considerate in their own rights. And to be able to stand up and tease myself and other adults at the same time. There's really nothing more to it. It's really my fun name for them and we smile and give each other hugs and kisses when we call each other that and it's as simple as that. We appreciate a sense of humor and teasing and giving each other a hard time. I think respect and consideration between parents and children should be as much a part of the relationship as what one expects to see between adults. So it's just part of the relationship we have. I give them the same consideration and respect that I would for any other adult.
