“IN VISIBLE”

It's multiple meanings. If you allow people IN, don't just judge people by what you see on the surface or by their cover, delve in and then you get VISIBLE what's behind that surface. It's also about looking into people, knowing the signs, knowing to see when somebody needs help, what you can do for them, how you can make them shine. From a personal standpoint, this is a message I wanted to give to my brother because he did that for me. He knew me enough to see beyond what was the Clare carrying on at a completely competent level to know this was somebody that really needs help. For me it was about learning to be able to ask for that help. So it's a whole piece about – you have an exterior but you've got to develop that trust and ask the questions and really look beyond the exterior and get into the person, get into the psyche. But it's also allowing people to do that as well. C: Tell me more about the story with your brother and how he helped you. I had had a very very tough time with work – I'd had an international assignment. I was doing several jobs at the same time. I was doing a [LDP?] program that year and I came back to the UK. And a very close family friend died and I felt I couldn't be there for my family. And that was a very very important piece for me. I was working extremely hard, really, and he's the one that got into me. He was in tears. He said 'Clare, you've got to stop working like this. What would mum say?' My mom had passed. And that just brought it back. Everybody had been concerned, I knew that. But the next day I said 'Can I speak to X?' I took some time out. Had I not done that and had he not had that conversation with me, I probably would have been off for a really long time. He doesn't know what he did for me that day, but it was because he looked beyond that confident piece. So that's what I encourage others to do. Also, for me it was about allowing this group of people who didn't know me well to help. And that was 2012. Since then, I think I as a leader have a structure in place – I come across as a very confident, hard work, very competent person. For me it was a wake up call that said you have to look over all of yourself. But also, you need help to look after yourself. So it's a little bit about mental health as well. I think people wouldn't have seen this confident, competent Clare and said that's someone that needs help. And I did. I genuinely did. You are stronger in asking for help. It isn't a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength.
